I love* (sarcasm) how everyone is the vegan police. You know what being vegan is just about doing the best you can to make yourself and the world more healthy. And guess what, we all make mistakes from time to time.

To be eating very well you need to be enjoying what you body wants now and that is determined by where you are and what time of the year it is. This interactive map is excellent in figuring out what to buy.
I’ve been a “kinda-vegan” for 10 days now. This all started with my viewing of the documentary Food Inc. Well, actually it started way before that. My parents were vegetarian when they first got married and those habits came through in my mother’s cooking. I also have never enjoyed cooking meat, so in college I never had meat/fish unless I went out. In addition, I am highly lactose intolerant. I have ignored this for quite a while and have suffered. Also, I have been exploring Buddhism for quite a while and my beliefs about compassion for all things and the rest of my history have converged into cutting out all animal products aside for eggs. But I don’t really like eggs so there you go. So I am feeling good and hope to continue to enjoy this lifestyle.
In looking into being Vegan I watched a lot of videos from Ellen, so here is one of my favorites.
In working through my must-see-for-the-Oscars list, I finally saw Hugo. This film was a fun adventure about self discovery and the emergence of film. My favorite character by far was Isabelle played by Chloe Grace Moretz. What a smart, inquisitive, doesn’t take no for an answer female. It saddens me that her entire plot revolves around Hugo. She too is an orphan and must have an incredible story. But really the film caught me when Hugo explains to Isabelle his theory about the city and our place in the world:
I’d imagine the whole world was one big machine. Machines never come with any extra parts, you know. They always come with the exact amount they need. So I figured, if the entire world was one big machine, I couldn’t be an extra part. I had to be here for some reason.
Saw W.E. today. I very much agree with the Academy around the costuming of this film. I would add on that the cinematography was excellent. To watch it was to go on a beautiful and revealing visual journey. There were some holes in the plot and direction here and there, but excellent work from Madonna on a first film.
